Nominations are now open for the positions of “Church Councillor”.  Church Councillors are an integral part of the Leadership at Hope Valley.

This year there are 3 vacancies to be filled.

Retiring Councillors are: Ros Blakeney, Chris Headland and Peter Ganglen.

Current and ongoing Church Councillors are: Tom Adams, Joanne Amber, Betty Burbidge, Luke Moffat, Peter Pledge, Phil Thompson and Geoff Watson (Chair).

Retiring Councillors are also eligible to be nominated.

Prayerfully consider if God is calling you to serve on the council.  Nominees are to indicate the term they are willing to serve, from one to five years.

Nomination forms are now available in both foyers.  The reverse of the nomination form lists the duties and responsibilities of Church Council, plus the qualities we look for in a Councillor.

Nominations close: Sunday 8 June 2008.  Elections will be held after each service on June 29, the day of the next Meeting of the Congregation.

Offering Celebration Evening

Friday 6 June   :   7:15pm for 7:30pm start

We come together on this evening to give thanks and celebrate God’s faithfulness and to announce the offering made by our congregation to develop our building here.

We are planning an exciting and fun filled night of celebration, followed by supper** at 8:30pm.

**We are also looking for people to make ‘slices’

for the supper.

If you can make your favourite slice recipe, that would be wonderful.  Just bring it on the night.

Leave your name at the Welcome Centre by 3 June, attention Maree, if you can help out in this way.

It is with deep sadness that Ron and Janet Kurtz travel to Melbourne this weekend to attend the funeral and thanksgiving service for their daughter, Dianne, who at the age of 57 died suddenly on Sunday 25 May and has gone to be with our Heavenly Father.

The service is on Monday 2 June.

Ron and Janet value, and say thank you, for your prayers and friendship during this difficult time.

From the World Mission Team:

Today has been designated Reconciliation Sunday by the Uniting Church.  Following is some information on the Uniting Aboriginal & Islander Christian Congress (UAICC).

The UAICC:

*     consists of Aboriginal & Islander members of the Uniting Church in Australia and members in fellowship who may also be members of any other denomination;

*     is made up of Aboriginal & Islander people seeking to fulfil their calling as Christians among their own people, especially in the area of wholistic community development;

*     determines its own goals and objectives and decides its policies and priorities;

*     runs its own programs and institutions;

*     aims, in collaboration with other people to bring to an end the injustices which hold Aboriginal and Islander people at the bottom/on the fringes of Australian society.

‘We are Aboriginal and Islander Christians from all over Australia, who have come together to form a National Congress as a result of a vision grasped in a conference held at Crystal Creek, North Queensland, in 1984.  The Congress seeks to unite in one fellowship all Aboriginal and Islander Christians who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord, accept the authority of the Scriptures and desire to follow and serve Christ as his disciples.  The UAICC was established by resolution of the Uniting Church Assembly in 19885.  We are part of the Uniting Church, but Congress determines its own goals and objectives and decides its policies and priorities.’

Aspidistra leaves needed.

If you could bring them to the church on or by Sunday 8 June Heather Bald would appreciate your help.    Thank you.
